Maintenance Courses Maintenance Courses

We offer a range of maintenance courses catering to all skill levels. We believe that hands on experience is the most effective way to learn. As such we limit our course sizes to 4-5 people per course to ensure that each participant has the attention needed to master each skill.

Course Outlines

Basic Seminar Course

Purpose: To gain the basic skills needed to complete emergency repairs whilst out on the road or on the trail. We believe the best way to learn is through hands on experience as such each class has a maximum size of four participants to ensure that everybody has a chance to perform each skill.
Skills covered: Changing and repairing a tube, breaking and rejoining a chain, basic gear and brake adjustment and tips on how to keep your bike in top working condition between rides.

Duration of course: 3 hours
Fee: $89.95 per person

Wheel Building Course

Purpose: To gain both the theoretical and practical skills needed to build and true a wheel. Truing stands and key spokes will be provided. To ensure that each participant receives constant guidance and attention this course is limited to three participants per course.
Skills covered: Theoretical principals of wheel building, spoke length selection, lacing a wheel including installing and preparing nipples and truing the wheel so it is ready to ride.
Duration of course: 3 hours
Fee: $139.95 per person

Advance Seminar Course

Purpose: To build on the skills learnt in the basic seminar course and move you one step closer to being a first rate mechanic. Due to the in depth nature of this course, class sizes are limited to three participants per session. There are two streams within this course to ensure that both road and mountain bike skills are covered. Please let us know when you are enrolling as to which stream you would like to book into. Skills covered:
Mountain bike course – Brake and gear adjustment, stripping and cleaning suspension forks; overhauling hubs/headset/bottom bracket and bleeding disc brakes.
Road bike course – Brake and gear adjustment, installation of both front and rear derailleurs and also the crank set and stripping and re-taping the bar tape.
Duration of course: 3 hours
Fee: $139.95 per person
